SANTIAGO SANCHEZ - USED TO VS PAST SIMPLE
In English we use both used TO and past simple when talking about events that happened in the past. However, it is easy to confuse used to with past simple.
The basic formula of the statements in the past simple is: Subject + verb in the past + complement. It is the simplest way, since all you have to do is conjugate the verb in the past tense.
affirmative subject + verb in the past + complement
negative subject +didn´t + infinitive verb + complement
question did + subject + verb in infinitive + complement
Used to We use the modal verb used to to indicate something that happened or happened in the past in a habitual way. Also, it is used for something that used to be true but is no longer true.
affirmative used to + infinitive
negative didn´t use to + verb
question did use to + verb
